2/3/10 Blessed Imbolc

Winter, 2010 Starline
Guest Author: Allison Rae

Tuesday, February 2, 2010 Blessed Imbolc Listen. There's a stirring deep within the Earth, hushed, nearly imperceptible. From the belly of the Mother, new life pushes forth at the Imbolc cross-quarter gateway. In the depths of the Earth womb, beneath snow and ice, natural cycles of creation are silently at work. New life is gestating. Rebirth is at hand. The ancient Sabbat of Imbolc marks the seasonal turning point from winter toward spring in the northern hemisphere. The days grow noticeably longer, and signs of spring begin to emerge from the ground. The promise of rebirth and renewal is fulfilled. South of the equator, the Sun's light begins to recede as autumn approaches. This is the Lammas cross-quarter in the southern hemisphere. February 2 is the traditional date of Imbolc. The festival was Christianized as Candlemas, when the candles to be used in the Catholic Church in the coming year are blessed. In America, February 2 is Groundhog Day. The groundhog predicts when spring will come as he pokes his head out to see his shadow, or not. This squirrel-like creature burrows deep within the Earth, the realm of shamams and mystics. Deep meditation unlocks secrets of Great Mystery at this special time. Zodiacal Imbolc falls on February 3 as the Sun crosses 15 degrees Aquarius, the the mid-point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Imbolc is one of the four “cross-quarters” of the year known as Greater Sabbats because they’re considered to be the most powerful Sun-Earth alignments of the solar year. The better known solstices and equinoxes are the Lesser Sabbats. “Imbolc” means “in the belly.” In Celtic tradition, this Sabbat is the festival of the Goddess Brighid, who relates to the Corn Maiden in Native American tradition. Both goddess archetypes symbolize the potential of new life within the Earth, within the human female form, and within the feminine aspect of all beings, male and female. Imbolc reminds us of our powers of creation. Traditionally we celebrate the Sabbats with ritual, consciously creating with intent as we move toward the birthing at the Spring Equinox on March 20. Progress may seem slow on the surface. Trust that new life is sprouting on inner levels, just as the tiny seeds of spring are beginning to germinate deep within the belly of Mother Earth. The cosmos gives the green light for new projects, travel and adventure when the Sun enters active Aries at the Vernal Equinox on March 20. Hibernation is over. The Sun warms our bodies and kisses the Earth. The sights and sounds and smells of a wondrous creation fill our senses. Spring is life on Earth. A new you blossoms, as a flower opening to the sky. Our circle of light on the Full Moon became a global meditation on the meaning and promise of the times we live in, a (re)commitment to our path of service, conscious and growing in love. Deepest gratitude to all who participated worldwide, joining in prayer and ritual for Mother Earth and her children at this auspicious time. May the group's intentions expand in fullness through the coming Imbolc Gateway, February 2-4. A medley of these... That each soul nurture the courage needed to express themselves to their community and to all of humanity in love and shining light. We grow with the moving tide, go within and allow new self-awareness and Divine Intuition to guide us to growing collectively in a Love-centered life that balances the needs of self with the needs of all. Through our countless small actions we move forward in loving service to Gaia and her inhabitants. May we so open our hearts that Divine Light flows freely through us into the world of form. May this Divine Light bring Love, compassion, respect, and cooperation into the hearts of all humanity. Through the transitions to come, we as Lightworkers hold the space for all hearts to open in child-like awe and wonder, replacing fear with Light and Love. We commit to awareness of ourselves, our minds and our intentions. Offering light, love and support to our planet and each other, especially in the more difficult times. Individually and collectively, we stay in the flow of Spirit knowing that all that appears to be real helps us remember who we TRUTHFULLY are, PEACEFUL and LOVING BEINGS. Mother Earth is calling us quietly and in very huge ways to work with her, help her, love and honor her. And as we do, we are honorable. Love is the way. My deepest thanks to those who contributed these words of hope and wisdom and the unspoken words resting in our hearts throughout the passage of the vibrant Leo Full Moon. Namaste. Are you anxious? Hopeful? Fearful? Optimistic? Since the beginning of the year, I've been fielding lots of questions about the outlook for 2010 and beyond. And it isn't just astrology that people are asking about. Many are concerned about Earth changes. Will there be another major economic collapse? How can we prepare? What will happen in 2012? My intuition tells me that whatever we think 2010 (and beyond) will be is exactly what it will be, for each of us. As an astrologer, I've researched the 2012 transition for more than a decade. The planetary configurations this year are the most intense we've experienced to date. Something is being initiated this year that's far more potent than anything in recorded history. It's aligned with galactic forces and therefore highly creative, and destructive. We have an unprecedented opportunity to attune to these frequencies and ride the wave of creation. If we're focused, and vigilant, we could become masterful agents of change through the course of this initiation. The foundations of our lives are being shaken because creative energy is necessarily destructive. From the rubble, a new, more humanitarian and egalitarian society will emerge. We're already seeing this in the world's response to the recent devastation in Haiti. If you're not personally affected, what does witnessing this massive destruction bring up for you? I published the following in my newsletter in December 2009: A celestial storm is brewing. In 2010, we'll experience the most intense planetary influences to date in the transition through 2012 and beyond. Structures, forms and institutions are breaking down, reorganizing at a higher level. During the reconfiguration, we become aware of the infinite possibilities of the quantum creational field. We realize we can choose our next reality. And we have the insight, tools and technology to do it. How things go from here depends on how we respond to the volatile energies. So far in 2010, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. I'll present my astrological preview for 2010 and beyond in a special teleconference this Thursday evening. You can read more about that below. Yes, the energies are chaotic. Yes, life is filled with uncertainty. We live in a transition period betwen world ages, and 2010 is a major crossroads in this transition. Astrologically, this new year is about action. Initiating, leading, healing and movement. What has been before doesn't predict what will be. We have an enormous opportunity, beginning in a big way in 2010, to do things differently on planet Earth. Our ability to transcend the chaos and emerge as fully empowered masters lies in our belief that this is possible. The Full Moon this Friday in Leo/Aquarius (exact at 10:18 PM Pacific January 29; 12:18 AM Eastern January 30) is a perfect opportunity to begin. Stay positive. Stay focused. Breathe. Create with intent. Namaste. 2010 Astro Forecast/Full Moon Teleconference - Thursday, January 28 I'll present my astrological preview for 2010 and beyond in a special teleconference this Thursday evening on the waxing Full Moon. Tonight's annular Solar Eclipse in Capricorn initiates a new round of changes in our ever-accelerating journey through the 2012 gateway and beyond. Eclipses are super-charged alignments that amplify the effects of new and full moons. Beginning two weeks ago on New Year's Eve and continuing through January 2011, five eclipses happen in Cancer and Capricorn. Issues around family, home, marriage, parents and children will be highlighted. Also banking, business, finance, real estate and taxes. In short, the structures, forms and foundations of our lives. Electromagnetic shifts connected with eclipses tend to trigger Earth changes. This week's violent 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Haiti is a grim example. A 6.5 earthquake shook northern California days before. New moons are endings, and new beginnings. As the Sun and Moon meet tonight in late Capricorn, things begin to stabilize again, in a new way. Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn organizes and reorganizes physical forms based on cosmic principles. Eclipses break up energy patterns. Throughout the year, the forms and structures of our lives will continue to shift in this fluid, ever-changing reality on planet Earth. Instead of waiting to see what will happen, we're invited to join in this process of reorganization as powerful co-creators, agents of change committed to creating a brighter future unencumbered by the past. Tonight is an excellent time to begin. Align with your purpose and initiate something positive with the New Moon eclipse energies. Saturn asks for commitment, discipline and effort. Here's the timing. Eclipse begins (first contact with Earth) 4:04 AM GMT/UT Friday; 11:04 PM Eastern US Thursday Central eclipse 7:20 AM GMT/UT Friday; 2:20 AM Eastern US Friday Eclipse ends (last contact with Earth) 10:07 AM GMT/UT Friday; 5:07 AM Eastern US Friday This annular eclipse will be visible across Africa, India, the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka and southeast Asia. With optimal viewing conditions, a narrow ring of the Sun will be seen beyond the dark mask of the Moon in those regions. Eclipse Ritual In Buddhist tradition, eclipses are holy days reserved for prayer, reflection and meditation on behalf of all beings. Our thoughts are amplified exponentially through these portals created by the alignment of Sun, Earth and Moon. Meditation, ceremony and ritual are extremely potent throughout the eclipse window, especially in the hours leading up to the central alignment. Ideas for ritual are included in the free audio class, "Tapping into the Power of Lunar and Solar Cycles." To listen, visit: http://www.starpriestess.com/audio/lunar-solar-cycles.mp3 Our Intuitive Astrology class will join with lightworkers around the world tonight in prayers of peace for humanity as we make our way through the changes. Align with the Sun, Moon and Earth tonight and feel the tremendous strength and support this creation offers in these fast-changing times. Namaste. O joy. In advance of the three-week slowdown, my past few days have been filled with the usual delays... traffic snarls on slick, snow-covered roads, miscommunication and techno glitches of all kinds. In an hour, a couple of guys are coming over to move the washer and dryer so the plumber can get into the crawlspace under the house to blow torch my frozen water pipes. And of course I have 10 million things to do while they tear up the house. I think I'll go for a walk. The way these things always happen, the timing is perfect. It's the end of the year, time to focus on the activities, or non-activities, appropriate to Mercury's retrograde period. Things like retreat, meditation, completing unfinished projects and other business, home repairs, car and computer maintenance. There's a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse coming up during the day on December 31. In Cancer/Capricorn, issues will be highlighted around your home, family and business. This is also likely to be a highly emotional time. At the end of the calendar year and beginning of a new one, tend to practical, third-dimensional matters, practice nurturing self-care, and notice what's happening on deep innner levels. The tradition of creating New Year's resolutions is particularly powerful this year with the eclipse energies. Use this time to really feel into your heart. Find out what you need spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically to live a healthier, happier life in alignment with your soul. Make your intent clear and create ritual around that. The matching bookend is a New Moon Solar Eclipse on January 14, 2010, also in Capricorn. Mercury will station the next day and begin traveling in "forward" motion again. This will be the time for us Earthlings to move forward in a big way, especially in business and day-to-day practical matters. Until then, relax, take your time and prepare for a stellar new year! Posted by Allison Rae at 12:08 PM Links to this post Labels: 2010 astrology forecast, astrology, eclipse, new year's resolutions, planetary alignments Saturday, December 19, 2009 Honoring Yuletide As the Sun crosses the Galactic Equator each December, darkness waxes to deepest night. In the northern hemisphere, we await the dawn on Solstice morn, welcoming the return of Light. Winter Solstice on December 21 is the shortest day of the year and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. It’s the pagan sabbat called Yule, also known as Yuletide. Christmas is the Christian version. Yule marks the time when the days begin to grow longer and the nights shorter. In the southern hemisphere, Solstice marks the height of summer, a time of culmination and abundance. Holiday hustle, bustle, parties and celebrations tend to eclipse the inner nature of this sacred time. Even as we gather to celebrate with community the beginning of a new year and the return of light to Earth, we’re also called to explore the inner realms of consciousness, the mystery of this creation, as we dream a new future into being. We can attune to the natural flow of creation with Solstice practices that support the deep inner work that’s appropriate at this time of year: - Honor the Bear Lodge of winter. Welcome the darkness. Receive incoming cosmic energy through this galactic portal with retreat and meditation, yoga and shamanic journeywork. - Review the solar year, Solstice to Solstice. Honor your experiences and accomplishments. - Invite vision and create intentions for the coming year. - Imagine the world we’re co-creating during this transition period, the Turning of the Ages. - Celebrate in community, with family and friends. Ritualize individual and collective intent. Hold the light for planet Earth and all beings through prayer and ceremony. Yule is a solar festival, celebrated traditionally with fire and the Yule log, candles, holly, mistletoe, bayberry, reindeer, pine trees with lights and ornaments, gifts and festive foods. Bayberry, cedar, pine and rosemary are the scents and spices of Yule. Traditional candle colors are gold, green, red and white. The moment of exact alignment is 12:47 PM Eastern (5:47 PM GMT) on December 21, as the Sun moves into Capricorn. Pause and attune to the forces of creation during this gateway, and relish the blessings of the season! Galactic Alignment The Sun's crossing of the Galactic Equator each December is a central focus of the book, Cosmic Time. There's also a feature article on this topic in the current issue of my newsletter: http://www.StarPriestess.com/cosmic_time.html Solstice Prayer My prayer is for beings around the world to align with these energies and ritualize our intent, both individually and in community, as we co-create a new paradigm on Earth. The Solstices and Equinoxes, as well as New and Full Moons, are particularly powerful times to focus celestial and Earth energies through the act of ceremony. Recently I was invited to share how we can attune to these natural rhythms in a teleclass hosted by animal intuitive Lynn McKenzie. In honor of the Solstice, I've posted a recording of this special 75-minute teleclass and Solstice ritual: Tapping into the Power of Lunar and Solar Cycles. You can listen here: http://www.starpriestess.com/audio/lunar-solar-cycles.mp3 Please note that you'll need to have an audio player enabled on your computer, and the ability to stream content from the web. As I put together my astrological forecast for 2010, I was blown away - literally. I've been studying and writing about the planetary energies of the 2012 transition for more than a decade. You can look back through the archives of the Cosmic Time ezine and Alignments newsletter to see where we've been. In my book, Cosmic Time, we take a look at the big-picture, planetary and cosmic context of the times we live in, especially the years 1987 through 2012 and beyond. As I wrote in the book, the planetary energies of 2010 are the hot spot of this transition. In the past few months, as I studied and meditated upon the planetary motions and alignments coming up in the new year, layers and layers of meaning began to unfold. In short, 2010 will be a defining time in humanity's evolution. Galactic energies will force us to change. We will reach a crossroads in 2010, and the choices we make will set the stage for eons to come. I do believe this is the central message of the sacred prophecies and calendars of the Maya, Aztec, Hopi, Lakota, Iroqois, Egyptians, Hindus and other spiritual cultures around the world. It took many weeks to pull the information together. During the time that I actually wrote the piece, a megastorm blasted through much of the United States. As I attempted to sleep after one of several days of writing, fierce winds rocked my tiny casita perched on a mesa in the open desert. Torrents of rain pelted the parched Earth for nearly 24 hours. It was a long night of communion with the nature spirits, the elements of water and air. Sleep didn't happen, but something alchemical did. I realized this violent storm was an expression of the kinds of energies I was writing about in the preview. Not a comfortable epiphany. Many people in this country will be digging out for days as a result of the storm. I read this morning that surfers in Hawaii were riding 30-foot waves... a living metaphor I used in the piece about the opportunity we have in 2010 to get on top of the potent energies and create something positive. So that's the gist of it. Quite simply, 2010 will be the most volatile year we've experienced yet on the way to 2012. During these days and nights leading up to the Solstice, I invite you to familiarize yourself with the energies and this profound opportunity. Get clear with your intent. Don't wait until January. The new year actually begins with the Sagittarius New Moon on December 16, so now's the time. Surf's up! The 18-page 2010-2012 Astro Preview is now available.
